1. Understands and generates human-like text.

2. Answers questions, provides information and participates in conversations.

3. Understands context and generates relevant responses.

4. Language translation and summarization

Weaknesses:

1. May generate incorrect or meaningless responses.

2. Sensitive to phrase insertion. Slight rewording may yield different results.

3. May exhibit biased behavior based on the data it finds.

4. May generate fictional reports.

5. Results may be based on plagiarized content

OpenAI, recognizing the concerns of educators regarding the use of ChatGPT by students, has created an online page that explains its philosophy while providing answers to any questions. At the same time, it suggests suggestions for proper use. See more information here.

What is ChatGPT good for students?

  1. Brainstorming ideas: a good start point.
  2. Narrowing your topic ideas for a research paper and keywords for searching in library databases.
  3. Explaining information in ways that are easy to understand
  4. Summarizing and outlining
  5. Asking questions (be sure to fact check the results). You can ask many, many questions without fear of being judged.
  6. Translating text to different languages (not completely fluent in every language)
  7. Helping write or debug computing code
